Earthworm burrows (Species listed below are the ones commonly found in Tasmanian pasture.)
  • Epigeic: within, and immediately adjacent to, dung pats
    • Lumbricus rubellus
  • Endogeic: within pasture root zone
    • Aporrectodea caliginosa
    • Aporrectodea trapazoides
  • Anecic: down into the subsoil in permanent to semi-permanent burrows (depth depending on the friability of the topsoil and subsoil).
    • Aporrectodea longa
    • Lumbricus terrestris
    • Octolasion cyaneum (yellow tail)
